He's there....
Karl called tonight. He's met the person he's replacing and learned a bit about his job. He also got to see his room - a 10x10 box in a trailer, equipped with bunk beds and cabinets. It's small and sparse, but it's luxurious compared to the 14-man-tent he was in there when the war started. He will be working the night shift, for which he is thankful; he will be out and about when it is coolest (though still hot) and can sleep through the 120-degree afternoons. He is tired and hungry but otherwise fine. He has a friend from Dover who is on the same shift, so he will have someone to eat and work out with. I am praying that there will be a godly man there (perhaps this guy, I don't know him well) with whom he can spend time and share. We're counting down to his return....only 19 more weeks to go.
