Papaw is going quickly. I just got word that he is now unconscious and his vital signs are very weak. It's odd how hard it hits you when you know it's the end, no matter how long you've known it was coming or how prepared you thought you were. I'm so relieved for him and thankful that his suffering is almost over, but it's hard to know that this earthly life is slipping away from someone who has been a part of your life from the very beginning.
I was looking at pictures of Papaw from our visit in July and ran across this one of him with Garin. I love the way they are looking into each other's eyes. Garin will not remember Papaw, but the man Garin will grow up to be will be influenced by his great grandfather, the faith he held onto and the love he had for his family.
